Caring for babies and their families comes naturally to me. My earliest and fondest memories of childhood are of playing mommy. I fulfilled that need during college earning extra money as a nanny, then marrying my high school sweetheart starting our own family.
Following the birth of our first child my home was blessed with a wonderful neighbor, my role model of doula. Her carrying words, encouragement and simple meals helped a new mother weary in need of sleep and reassuring. She gave me the confidence to follow my heart in parenting, when parenting books didnt offer the words of encouragement I needed. Four year later she supported me following the birth of our second child.
Her presence and my natural instinct guided me to peer counseling with WIC and Nursing Mother Counsel, then to childbirth and breastfeeding education, and to becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and postpartum doula.
In the past 15 years I have had opportunity to support families as they learn to care for their babies, helping instill the confidence they need to make choices that support their philosophy of parenting.
As a Board Certified Lactation Consultant it is my desire to support you with your goals surrounding how to feed your baby. To find our breastfeeding resources please click here. There you can find local support groups, breastfeeding friendly boutiques, and on line information.
