As a Postpartum Doula, I nurture women once they are home with their baby/babies and support the whole family. Bringing home your new baby can be overwhelming for some families and all families could use a few extra hands around the house during this time.  To be invited into your home to help care for you and your baby is such a privilege and honor.  To meet with expectant parents before their baby is born and then see them transition into parenthood is amazing, and so fun to be a part of.

I believe what families need most is nurturing and gentle support.  I help new mothers and fathers to feel confident in their ability to care for their infant by providing educations and support.  This includes breastfeeding support, basic newborn care, and infant soothing tips.  I feel that when a new mother is supported it allows her to bond with her baby, recover physically and emotionally from her birth, and move into her new responsibilities gradually.

It is always my goal to be helpful in a quiet, pleasant, and unobtrusive way, blending in with the family to make everything work as smoothly as possible. I help parents figure out what will work best for them and their baby. I see time and again clients gaining confidence and trusting their own instinct in caring for their child when they have support and education.

I have been professionally involved in the birthing community since 1999 as a Birth Doula and added my postpartum work to complete my services in July 2005. I have worked with singleton, twins, and families with siblings in helping them during the adjustment of being new parents or big brother or sister.

In my role as a Birth and Postpartum Doula I have completed both birth and postpartum certification trainings.  I have continued my education credits in breastfeeding support, infant development, postpartum care and postpartum depression. I have also attended conferences specifically addressing the postpartum period for mother, families and babies. I am CPR and First Aid Certified through the American Red Cross.

I am a wife, mother, and grandmother foremost in my life. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have 2 wonderful children who have given us 3 precious grandsons and twins on the way.  I never thought anything could be better than being a mother, but being a grandmother is just an extension of being a mother, and better yet I get to share it with my children.

I love to slow down the pace of life and enjoy spending time with my family and friends more than anything, and cherish our time together. I enjoy sewing, camping, swimming, hiking, snowshoeing, trips to the beach, and attending school and sports events with my grandchildren.

My personal life motto is “God, Family and Friends is what life is all about” and supporting families allows me to be who I am to help others.
For me, to be invited into your home to help care for you and your family is an honor. I enjoy my time with my clients and cherish the special time with your baby. To watch a new mother and father with there newborn and see the joy this new life has brought to them, and be a part of that, is truly a blessing.

Enjoy your Journey into Parenthood, and Happy Birthing.
